My search for inner silence in nature

“I find silence and serenity in myself when I spend time in nature and feel its authenticity. When the blizzard is raging, when the rain and the wind make animals and people seek shelter, or when night descends over the forest. For me it’s not only about getting the perfect picture of an animal or a bird, but more about capturing the uniquely intense mood or feeling that I only experience in wild nature.”

Adventure as my guide

“Since 2005 (when I served in one of the Danish military special forces, the Sirius Patrol, for two years) I have spent two further years in the northern parts of Greenland meeting the local people and working on photography projects. My driving force is a sense of adventure and my fascination for nature, and my curiosity and empathy for other cultures – from the indigenous peoples of South America to Greenlanders in the northernmost settlements – has led me to many remote regions.”

“I believe that if everyone took the time to experience nature, we would see our planet with other eyes and treat it with greater respect. It all starts perhaps with fascination, which is followed by the desire to take care. I hope my pictures can help to start the fascination.”

“As a freelancer for the WWF it is possible for me to make a difference. Through my pictures, videos and lectures, and WWF’s exciting projects, I can help to convey the importance of everybody making an effort to respect and appreciate the earth and the amazing variety of creatures that live here with us.”

“In 2012 I started nature publishing along with Sussie Pagh who studied foxes for her Ph”D. The Fox Cub is our first book in a series about animals in Nordic nature, and it is amazing to see how children become engrossed in the story – perhaps this is where the fascination starts.”

Arctic Adventure

My fascination of Arctic was a consequence of my two years in the Sirius dogsled patrol. The Silence I experienced on the long journeys, the animals and the fascinating, endless nature was the beginning of a serie of trips and expeditions to the Arctic.
